“One Works” is a vital component of the gallery's commitment to the discussion and creation of individual artworks.
Our approach partly draws from the Afterall book series: “each title focusing on a single artwork that has significantly shaped the way we understand art and its history. The books insist that a single contemporary work of art (in all its different manifestations) can affect our understanding of art in general. More than that, these books suggest that a single work of art can literally transform, however modestly, the way we look at and understand the world.”

It also echoes the in-depth, four-hour critiques with Professor Willem de Rooij at Staedelschule, where conversation focused entirely on one work.

The following works been commissioned or created in close collaboration between the artist and the gallery, often involving months or even years of development.
