Marking Veit Laurent Kurz' Canadian debut, The Weeping Demon reveals a personal set of drawings that have long acted as a hidden guiding compass for Kurz' diverse practice.

These drawings, in alchemy with the last years of his artistic works and exhibitions, materialize an evolving, elastic, spongey storyboard for a future film. Narrative themes feed on radioactive paranoia, illuminating post-industrial sludge, genetic mutations, and magical transformation.

Kurz' title, The Weeping Demon, quotes an eponymous chapter of Akira Kurosawa's 1990 magical-realist movie, Dreams. In the fall out of a nuclear Armageddon, overblown dandelions tower over humans.
